Due to the controversy generated by the .whaever idea ICANN came up with a while ago, the body in charge of domain names has decided to postpone things for a while. ICANN yesterday released a 154-page document detailing and analyzing the hundreds of comments it has received about its generic top-level domain (gTLD) plan. In response to several concerns brought up by the public and companies in the Internet industry, ICANN’s projected timeline for taking applications for new gTLDs has slipped from September to December, said Paul Levins, ICANN’s executive officer and vice president for corporate affairs. Check it out – 154-page document Is the .whatever idea a really good idea? Really really doubt it, most of the .wthaevers .bank .man .woman .whatever won’t be successful.

January Auction Recap By Matt Rosebrook, Brokerage By completing the majority of top domain sales in 2009, Sedo’s marketplace has remained consistent throughout the economic downturn. No doubt providing a boost to these numbers was the January GreatDomains Auction, which included such sales as FindaDate.com ($31,000 USD), Starship.com ($22,500), Fired.com ($20,600) and Cheetahs.com ($10,099). We expect February’s GreatDomains Premium Auction to be even more successful. Such premium names as Clients.com, Cop.com and Pat.com will be showcased. Buyers, be sure to scope out the bargain names, including Raise.com, Religions.net, and a slew of generic .com/.net domains listed in Sedo’s upcoming No Reserve Auction! For buyers placing bids over 10,000 USD/EUR/GBP please remember to complete your Member Certification before the auction starts. Been out of touch for a while cos I’ve been busy having a mini vacation but now I’m fully back. Get ready for loads of stuff…
The Dollars.com auction ended at sedo.com yesterday with a 302,500 Euros price tag. Considering the history of sales generated by the domain, this is a drop in the value of the domain. Its History - Sold for $650,000 in 2007 - Listed in a Moniker.com auction around that same time in 2007 for $600,000 - Should have sold on Sedo last year for nearly $800,000, but the winner backed out and the sale was not completed. Now it has been sold for 302,500 euros [something around $388,000]
From $650,000 to $800,000 to $388,000, this domain has had a rough ride. I’ve heard guys complain about the price, that it is not worth that much. When it comes to domains- beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. In my own opinion, Whoever has it now got a good deal and will make at least a couple of hundreds of thousand dollars in the next couple of years. But then, what do I know? Let’s just wait and see.
If there is a premium name worth having, it is this one, dollars.com. Currently on auction at sedo.com with a leading bid of 302,500 EUR and 1 day to go. This name should easily do 1 million dollars any time soon, if any body gets it for less, he or she is going to get a great profit in the next couple of years. Mark My Words! By the way the domain is not mine, if it was I would be planning a really cool vacation. Want to get in on the action? Go to https://sedo.com/auction/detail/dollars.com/48703_us__
