Knowing very well that more extension calls for more money in protecting their brands; several major companies with huge online presence are already protesting ICANN’s new announcement of “Create Any Extension You Want”. In the forefront of the protest are Verizon Communications, Marriott International and New York Life Insurance. Their argument is that making it easy for any one to grab an extension will drastically increase Internet fraud and their costs of doing business online. Domain extensions are suffices attached to website names, .com, .net, .org and so on.
