Answer: Sell more domains using fixed pricing!

If you are looking for another tld to invest in apart from the popular TLDs, .de is definitely one worth considering.

I discover on Sedo, good .de domains fetch good prices. Just last week FlatRate.de topped the sales list by fetching a whooping $200,000.

See what I mean? Catch the .de bug.

The .me domain extension has been generating reasonable interest since its introduction into the domain market. Reports have over 1 million web pages already created in the extension [not sure about the exact figure yet].

If you missed out of the .com bubble, you may want to cash in on the .me bubble. [That is all it is, a bubble, meaning it can bust and spill at any time.]

To enjoy the best of .me as a domainer, it is best you go for domains that go well with the extension, stuff like names, geo domains [geographical locations- popular countries, cities, tourist attraction etc], popular words that go well with the extension, such that it makes a popular statement or phrase- Love.me, thank.me, greet.me, feel.me, date.me,  play.me etc

If you are looking to launch a web presence and the major extensions have already been taken and you can’t afford to pay a high amount to get it, “your company name” .me or the “service you render”.me may just be a good alternative for you launch out.

A highly recommended registrar for the .me and other popular extensions is MONIKER, Check them out HERE!

Wishing you the best of ME…

Caught this in the recent Sedo Newsletter, I think it’s good news for domain owners…

A court in the Southern District of Florida recently barred a trademark owner, who sought possession of a domain that allegedly infringed on his mark, from asserting claims under then Lanham Act and the Anti-Cybersquating Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) due to the Doctrine of Laches, thus dismissing the case in favor of the defendant.

The doctrine of laches is considered in the legal realm to be an “equitable defense” that rewards those who diligently assert their claim and penalizes those who procrastinate when avowing their rights. Under this doctrine if party delays in stating their claim and as a result that delay unfairly prejudices the opposing party then the opposing party may assert the defense of laches. Generally, for a party to be unfairly prejudiced it must be shown that as a result of the delay the opposing party is in a worse position now then at the time the claim should have been brought.

In the case at hand the defendant acquired assets including the domain diamondbrite.com and trademark rights in the mark “Diamond Brite” as it apples to electronic signs. In 2002 the plaintiff, owner of the “Diamond Brite” trademark with respect to cleaning products, sent an email to the defendant seeking to procure the domain. No action was taken upon this request. In 2005, the plaintiff sent a cease and desist letter to the defendant and demanded immediate possession of the domain. The defendant refused the transfer but asked for more information regarding the plaintiffs’ trademark. The defendant did not hear from the plaintiff again until 2007 when they received a second cease and desist letter to transfer the domain which the defendant again refused. After the second refusal the plaintiff sued the defendant for trademark infringement under the Lanham Act and the ACPA.

In response to the lawsuit the defendant filed a motion to dismiss the case based on the defense of laches. The court asserted the defendant needed to prove three elements to be successful on a laches defense. These elements are (1) a delay in asserting a right or claim; (2) that the delay was not excusable; and (3) that there was undue prejudice to the party against whom the claim was asserted. In applying the elements to the case at hand the court determined that the plaintiff’s actions, which consisted of merely sending an email and letters over the course of five years, constituted a delay. Second, the court believed that there was no excuse for the delay. And third, the court determined that the said delay would unfairly prejudice the defendant as it would require them to amass eight years worth of evidence which the court found to be burdensome. Based on this analysis the court granted the defendant’s motion and dismissed the case under the doctrine of laches.

Just Yesterday the .pro registry relaunched the far from popular extension [.pro] with a lower registration fee.

One of the major .pro registrars, Encirca, is charging $24.99 for the first year of registration, with subsequent years priced at $49.99 each. This is way better than the prices that were on ground before, almost $100 annual registration.

To win public approval for this domain and make it a successful extension, registry restrictions  have been eased. .Pro was originally aimed at licensed professionals who could show valid credentials but now a simple “self-certification” will do. Self certification simply means if you claim to be a licensed professional they will take your word for it.

Would .pro become successful with the comeback run or will it remain a failed extension?

Only time would tell? What do you think?

The Land-Rush auction for .me domains ended recently with a great result, over $2 million. Yes at the auction over $2 million .me domains were sold.

So for you guys skeptical about .me maybe it’s time for a rethink.

Personally I think .me domains are ok, they are great if you can get premium keywords like casino.me poker.me loan.me loans.me tax.me etc

Good hacks like domainna.me, ani.me etc will also be good investments but regular dictionary words won’t hold water and are a waste of resources except you cand develop into a traffic pulling site.

The major .me auction will be held sometimes in this month, I think. The last auction that yielded over 2 million dollars was kind of private, one wonders what the public auction will yield.

Think about investing in .me? Worth a try!

Had this post on one of my blogs a while ago, thot it was still worth sharing, let me know your opinions…

We’ve had LL, LLL, and LLLL.com buyouts. Now people are wondering about the prospect of LLLLL.coms

For the newbies, L- simply stand for letters, so LL.com LLL.com and LLLL.com simply means 2 letter, 3 letter and 4 letter .com domains respectively.

With the recent Web2.0 age we are in, brandables will certainly rule the day. If you can have easily pronounceable and brandable 5 letter.com domains, you will at least make a 50% profit off it.

What kind of LLLLL.com domains sell?

- Easily pronounceable

- Accronyms/Abbreviations

- Easily Brandable

I’ve sold names like Limzo.com for like $20 [regged it for $7.50], Dimzo.com for $35 and wadom.com for $200.

If you are a newbie in the market and you want to make quick sale, brandable and pronounceable LLLLL.com is the way to go.  But you need to know that not all 5 letter .com domains sell. It must be easily pronounceable and brandable to attract buyers.

When you want to register LLLLL.com that will fetch cool cash, think Yahoo.com.

If you have a problem with knowing the value of your LLLLL.com domains, run them by me and I’ll let you know what they can fetch.
